1.
How far in advance should I reserve a cottage?
The earlier you start looking the more choices you will have. We do not take reservations any more than one year in advance.
2.
How do I go about renting a cottage?
Look over our web site and find a cottage that suits your needs. Once you have selected the cottage that you want to submit a request online. If you have questions regarding any of the cottages please send us an e-mail or call us first
before
submitting a request.
Please make sure all of the information in the booking request is filled out correctly.
Make sure that you have checked the availability dates for the cottage(s) that you have chosen and make sure the number of people you are bringing does not exceed the amount of people allowed in the cottage. If you do not wish to submit a request on-line then you can call our office at (207) 374-3500 and a trained rental agent will be waiting to assist you.
3.
What areas of Maine do you cover?
Southern Hancock County (The Down East Region of Maine) from Castine to Eastport, and the lakes around the Ellsworth area. We do not rent on the smaller islands, such as Swans Island, Cranberry Island etc.
4.
Are there any extra fees?
Yes, there are other fees on top of what you see listed on our web site. Upon reserving you will receive a breakdown of the costs. Each home is different and the extra fees vary.
5.
How do I get the directions to the cottage?
After receipt of full payment, the directions and property information list will be generated. Using a password you will be able to print them out from your computer. The directions take you straight to the cottage and to the location of the keys.
6.
What should I bring with me?
All your food, paper products, plastic bags, and wraps etc. Many cottages have starter kits, but they, and we, are not responsible for any basics being in the cottage. Some cottages, but not all, require that you bring your own drinking water. Make sure you bring drinking/cooking water if you should chose such a cottage.
7.
What happens if I have to cancel?
If you need to cancel for any reason there is a $500.00 PER WEEK cancellation fee. This money is forfeited regardless the reason for cancelling. (Medical emergencies, Deaths, sickness etc… are no excuse for getting all of your money back.) If we can re-rent the cottage for the same week(s) then we will return all money paid minus the $500.00. If we can not re-rent the cottage you will then forfeit all money paid. We make every effort possible to re-rent the cottage in order to refund your money. If you purchased a Cancellation Policy upon signing your contract then your money will be refunded in full assuming you meet all criteria set fourth in policy.

What happens if there is an emergency while I am on vacation?
First look on the refrigerator at your cottage for emergency numbers. If there are none listed, you can call our emergency number which will be given to you along with your receipt with your final payment and directions.
Emergencies are:
Plumbing problems, something not working correctly in the cottage that has to be attended to immediately, or you have locked yourself out of your cottage.
NON emergencies are:
You’ve run out of towels, you can not locate your lobster pot, or you forgot the name of your favorite restaurant. Please use your best judgment.
