Islesboro is a quiet, restful island town located in Penobscot Bay along Maine's midcoast. This unique town is reached via ferry from Lincolnville Beach (just outside of Camden.) The small town of Islesboro has a permanent population of just 600, but that figure grows to several times that in the summertime, when visitors flock to the island to enjoy some of the finest weather in the United States. The island is away from the hustle and bustle of Maine's popular Route 1, and is not commercialized. Islesboro remains much as it was in the early 1900s when it was a grand, but informal resort community. Today, it's a friendly place with lots of activity such as swimming, fishing, boating, hiking and biking around the island. And, Islesboro offers some of the best sailing waters in the world! Hike the coastline and explore places such as Ryder's Cove and stop to view the interesting geological carvings at Turtlehead Point. Islesboro is a tranquil coastal town, but never boring. There are art shows and musicals performed by active local groups in the summer months, and there is limited shopping and dining on the island. For more shopping and restaurants options, you can easily visit the nearby towns of Camden and Rockland.

The Central Coast of Maine, near Penobscot Bay, has a mild climate with an average annual snowfall of 59 inches and average annual rainfall of 48 inches. Generally summers are mild with temperatures rarely going above 80 degrees. Expect cool weather on most summer nights, especially along the coast where sea breezes can feel quite cool. The humidity level is usually of no consequence due to the mild temperatures. Winters in Maine are cold but not frigid. Snow melts frequently along the coast - winter enthusiasts will find more snow on the ground for longer periods of time inland. Ice storms are regular in winter and early spring, and rain is frequent in every month. Fog is common during Jun, Jul and Aug.
